Cann River offers up a tiny oasis where the Princes Highway meets the Monaro Highway.
By day, it’s a hive of drive activity as visitors hum through on the legendary Sydney to Melbourne coastal drive. For those heading inland through the Monaro Plains towards Cooma, Cann River is a place to top-up on fuel before heading interstate. It's also the turning point for Point Hicks and the famed Lighthouse.
At night, the tranquil river frontage provides an ideal location for stellar stargazing, with low level lighting from the township creating near perfect conditions for astro adventures.
Head over the bridge to the Cann River, accessible via the Cann River Rainforest Caravan Park, a basic but pet-friendly place to drop in for a night or two. On this side of the town, the lighting is at its lowest, allowing you to view the night sky canopy on clear-sky evenings.
Cann River is the meeting point for visitors arriving from the NSW south coast, from the golden plains of the Snowy-Monaro region and for those heading to Point Hicks.
