Point Hicks, accessible from Cann River via the Point Hicks Road, is known for its wild and natural beauty, punctuated by the sentinel of the Point Hicks Lightstation.
The Lightstation is the tallest lightstation on mainland Australia. The surrounding area provides a near perfect location to view the purple and green hues of the Southern Lights, or Aurora Australis, a natural phenomenon that peaks around the spring equinox each year.
The whole area of Point Hicks is tailor-made for great stargazing. Almost anywhere outside on a clear night will reward the avid stargazer in this remote wilderness location.
Point Hicks is the launching point for the epic Wilderness Coast Walk, from the Thurra River Dunes Walk.
