If you're coming from Melbourne, Gippsland is accessed from the Monash Freeway (M1) which becomes the Princes Highway (M1/A1) near Traralgon. The road bypasses Warragul, travels through Traralgon and Sale before heading to Bairnsdale.
To access Loch Sport: From the Princes Highway, follow the C485 from the roundabout at Rosedale.
To access Dargo: From Stratford, follow the C493 to Briagolong, then on to Dargo. If you're coming from Bairnsdale, turn right at the C601 and travel through Lindenow, following the signage.
Bruthen is accessed via the B500 near Bairnsdale. Take the Great Alpine Road from here (B500) to reach Omeo, or continue on the C620. Follow this road and watch for signs for Buchan, it's a turn onto the C608. Also on the C620 pass through Nowa Nowa where the road becomes the A1 once again. Follow the signs to Lake Tyers from Nowa Nowa.
Continue on the A1 to arrive at the Orbost, Marlo and Cape Conran turn offs, all from the A1.
Follow the Princes Highway (A1) into Cann River where you can take the Point Hicks turnoff at the roundabout. Check for road closures before you do.
Continue on the A1 heading east towards NSW. Mallacoota, located in the far corner of East Gippsland is a turn to the right onto the C617.
If you are coming from the east or north, access the region via the A1 or the Monaro Highway (B23) from NSW into Cann River. Mallacoota is a left hand turn off the A1 just over the border from NSW accessed via the C617.
