With the Buchan River meandering through the township and the ancient honeycomb caves on the edge of the township, Buchan is a perfect place to drop your swag for a night or two and contemplate your place in the universe.
Buchan, a picturesque village nestled in the alpine hills, offers up activities for both day and night. By day, venture underground on a tour of the Buchan Caves. The Caves are located just north of the town, an easy walk from the town centre. The Buchan Caves Reserve invites you to meander through the bushland, for a bit of roo spotting. Pack a picnic and make a day of it, or use Buchan as a base to head further afield into the Snowy River National Park.
After dark, the pub-grub at the Buchan Caves Hotel will leave you completely satisfied before you grab your torches and look skyward.
